FISH PREPARATION WORKSHOP INFORMATION

Are you unsure about cooking and preparing fish? Do you want new inspiration? This is the class for you. Our new fish preparation course is a great introduction to fish. For our class, we take a wide selection to show you  fresh, local (whenever possible) seafood and to prepare it from scratch. We will discuss sourcing, how to buy the best fish and how to cook it, whether steamed, pan-fried, grilled or baked.

There is a common misconception that preparing and cooking fish is difficult, but with a little guidance, practice and a good knife, you can master the art of filleting fish and learn about the different methods of cooking so that your fish remains moist and flavoursome. Fish filleting is a skill that needs to be learned, and once mastered is a skill for life that enables you to work with fresh fish to create great dishes.

During the class we will introduce you to sustainability of fish. You will learn about the different categories of fish and what to look for when buying fresh fish. You will enjoy 4 sessions of in-depth, hands-on learning with our talented chef Pawel and experienced training officer Rhiannon.

Throughout the day you’ll enjoy a tasting menu of the many dishes we prepare and cook together. As well as basic cooking techniques, we will also discuss some great recipes.

Our classes are a combination of hands on and demonstration.  We will be scaling, gutting, filleting and cleaning the fish (if you want to) as well as preparing the final dishes.  Classes are suitable for beginners and intermediate cooks wishing to become more confident with fish. Each course is limited to 6 places to allow for maximum participation.

All fish preparation classes include tea & coffee and a freshly prepared fish lunch. Classes start at 10:30 am and end approx. 3:00pm and you will take home your prepared fish along with a recipe pack.

We provide everything you need for the workshop, but if you have your own fish knife with which you would like to practice please bring it along on the day, along with a cool bag.
